Lessee Definition:

The Lessee is the person to whom the horse will be leased. The Lessee will be leasing the horse from the horse's owner.

Horse's Height:

The height of the horse should be entered in terms of hands, from the ground to the top of the wither. For example, 15.3 hands.

Registration Number:

For the Lease Agreement, you will need to enter the horse's registration number. For example, if your horse is registered with the American Quarter Horse Association, then you should enter the assigned registration number. You will enter the agency with which the horse is registered for the agency field.

Effective Date:

The effective date for your Lease Agreement is the date on which it will take effect. Therefore you will enter the date that you expect the written agreement to become operative.

Lease Purposes:

The Lease Agreement will list the acceptable purposes for which the horse can be used. You need to enter each purpose separated by a semi-colon (;). Some examples of purposes are:

Compete in a One-Star Three-Day Event.

Jump fences not higher than allowed for Intermediate Eventing levels.

All purposes that the Lessee sees fit.

Lease Fee:

The lease provides that the lease fee (the amount of money paid to lease the horse) will either be paid in one payment at the start of the lease, or in a monthly installment over the course of the lease.

Insurance Information:

The insurance policy that the owner has for the horse can either be used by the lessee, or the lessee may be required to open their own insurance policy for the horse. If the lessee is required to open their own policy, the minimum coverage amount will be required for the lease agreement.

State Law:

Generally speaking, the state law you elect to apply should be the laws of the state where the lease of the horse, and the majority, if not all, of the related business occurs.
